In a bold move, South-South mothers and Comrade Joseph Evah, coordinator of the Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG), have held prophetic deliverance prayers for the governors of the Niger Delta region, who they deem as failed leaders. The governors, who received substantial allocations and 13% derivation, have been accused of misusing these funds for personal gain rather than developing the region.

The prayers, which were offered in the spirit of seeking divine intervention, aimed to bring about a transformation in the leadership of the Niger Delta region. The mothers and Comrade Evah are calling upon the governors to be accountable for their actions and to prioritize the development of the region.

The organisers urged Niger Delta governors to emulate former governors of the region, HRM Alfred Diete Spiff, Chief Udokobo Jacob Esuene, and Chief Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, who drove development and industrialization in the region.

This move is seen as a cry for help from the people of the Niger Delta region, who have been plagued by poverty, environmental degradation, and lack of infrastructure despite being rich in natural resources. The prayers are a reminder that the people will no longer tolerate poor leadership and are demanding change.

As Comrade Evah emphasised, “The Niger Delta, South-South, and ordinary Nigerian youth, man and woman are not lazy. We only have lazy leaders at the top who are cowards.” He further stated that the people are doing this because their politicians should come to their aid.

The event tagged “Niger Delta Governors Spiritual Deliverance Service Day” was held today Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 12:00 pm at the Ijaw Monitoring Group, IMG Office in Lagos.

However, the mothers and Evah sought divine guidance and wisdom for the governors, including Senator Duoye Diri (Bayelsa State), RT Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta State), Umo Eno (Akwa-Ibom State), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo State), Bassey Otu (Cross River State), and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers State).

Meantime, Over 2,000 Bibles were distributed during the service, which featured prayers seeking economic wisdom and patriotic spirit for the governors.
