The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a fine of ₦1 million on Warri Wolves Football Club for failing to ensure proper security arrangements during their league fixture against Rangers International.

According to the NPFL, the incident occurred at the Southern Delta University Stadium in Ozoro, where the match was delayed after fans and unauthorized individuals gained access to restricted areas, raising safety concerns. Officials described the breach as a serious violation of league regulations, stressing that clubs must guarantee the safety of players, officials, and supporters at all times.

As part of the punishment, Warri Wolves have been directed to submit a detailed security improvement plan within seven days to prevent a repeat of such incidents. The club also has 48 hours to either accept the sanctions or file an appeal before the NPFL disciplinary committee.

The development comes as Warri Wolves prepare to face Kwara United in their next home match, with the NPFL warning that stiffer penalties could follow if security lapses persist.

This sanction highlights the league’s renewed commitment to enforcing discipline, maintaining order, and ensuring Nigerian football meets international safety standards.
