A content creator, Folorunsho Olayinka, known online as Finest, has said the late comedian Adetola Samad, popularly known as Sanku, still owed roughly N13 million on the 2012 Lexus RX 350 that was involved in the crash which took his life.

In a video that went viral on TikTok, Finest, who says he stood as guarantor for Sanku, said the comedian bought the vehicle for N25.4 million and intended to pay in instalments.

Finest produced a receipt from JJ Motors Empire and Services Limited, dated 5 June 2025, which he shared during a livestream amid the controversy surrounding Sanku’s death. The document showed only N7 million had been paid at the point of purchase.

‘I was only a guarantor, it was because the car dealer knew me. I only helped him,’ Finest said. ‘I wasn’t the one who told him to come to Ilorin; he was the one who requested a driver, which I provided for him. After paying N7,000,000 to acquire the vehicle, he began paying in instalments until he had paid N12,280,000.

‘So what will be my gain in ordering that the person who owed about N13 million, for whom I stood as guarantor, be killed? What will be my gain? I don’t even know the driver.’

Finest added that he would not ordinarily make Sanku’s private matters public, but felt compelled to speak after being implicated in the circumstances surrounding the comedian’s death. ‘I have all the voice notes of him appreciating me for being his guarantor,’ he said.

He also described sending relatives and colleagues to the scene on the day of the accident and providing funds for treatment, saying those who went to hospital complained they were not treated immediately.

The claims were made during a widely shared TikTok livestream and have not been independently verified.
