The Kano State Hisbah Board has taken popular TikTok creator Amani Ishaq and two other women, Hauwa Khamis and Sa’adatu Muhammad, before a magistrate court over social media content allegedly considered contrary to the state’s religious and moral expectations.

The board’s Deputy Commander, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, confirmed the development in a statement, disclosing that the three women appeared before Magistrate Court No. 5 on Court Road in Kano.

According to the board, Ishaq was accused of posting dance videos on TikTok that it considered incompatible with Islamic teachings and accepted standards of moral upbringing.

However, the Hisbah Board did not disclose the specific charges filed against the women or provide further details about the court proceedings.

It also did not state whether the women were granted bail or when the case would return to court.
