A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano has ordered the Kano State Hisbah Board to facilitate the marriage of popular TikTok content creators, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, within 60 days.

The directive follows the duo’s recent appearance in viral videos described as “indecent” by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.

Presiding over the matter on Monday, 20 October 2025, Magistrate Halima Wali warned that failure to conduct the marriage within the stipulated period would amount to contempt of court.

The court also directed the Chairman of the Censorship Board to supervise and ensure compliance with the order.

According to the Board, the videos shared by the two content creators violated state laws that prohibit the production and distribution of sexually suggestive or obscene materials.

Mai Wushirya and Yar Guda were recently arraigned before the court for allegedly producing and circulating the videos on social media.

The clips, which went viral, showed the pair engaging in “romantic gestures”, actions authorities said were contrary to the moral and religious standards upheld in Kano State.

Mai Wushirya had earlier been remanded in a correctional facility after footage of him shirtless and involved in what officials described as “immoral and demeaning acts” surfaced online.

His co-creator, Yar Guda, was also interrogated by the Board’s enforcement unit before the case was brought before the court.
