Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has expressed deep concern over the worsening economic situation in Nigeria, saying even his own children have been unable to secure jobs due to the negative perception associated with his name.

Speaking in an interview, the Lagos elder statesman lamented that life has become increasingly difficult for ordinary Nigerians under the current administration. He noted that despite his long years of public service, his family has not been spared the harsh realities of unemployment and rising poverty.

George also criticized the government for failing to create an enabling environment for young people to thrive, warning that the growing level of frustration among the youth could trigger serious social unrest if not urgently addressed. He urged leaders at all levels to prioritize policies that reduce hunger, boost job creation, and rebuild citizens’ trust in governance.

“Things are hard, very hard. Even my children can’t get jobs because of my name. But beyond me, Nigerians are suffering, and that should worry everyone in power,” he said.
