Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, convened an emergency meeting in Abuja with the nation’s service chiefs to deliberate on the recent threat issued by former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding potential military action in Nigeria.

According to reports, the meeting, held at the Office of the National Security Adviser, brought together the heads of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, and other intelligence agencies. The discussions reportedly focused on assessing the implications of Trump’s statement and reviewing Nigeria’s preparedness in case of external aggression.

A senior security source disclosed that the government views Trump’s remarks as “provocative and concerning,” especially given the tense political climate and growing international scrutiny over governance and human rights issues in Nigeria.

Although details of the meeting were not made public, officials hinted that Nigeria would pursue diplomatic engagement with Washington to prevent any escalation. The Defence Headquarters is also said to be reviewing strategic security protocols to strengthen national defense readiness.
