Ten Years After: Nation Pays Tribute to Paris Victims
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
France, on Thursday, marked the tenth anniversary of its deadliest terror attack, with the sole surviving perpetrator serving a life sentence and plans under way for a permanent memorial.
On the night of 13 November 2015, jihadists killed 130 people in coordinated shootings and suicide bombings across Paris and its surroundings, an assault later claimed by the Islamic State group.
Around 90 of the victims were murdered at the Bataclan concert hall, where American rock band Eagles of Death Metal were performing.
Dozens more were killed at restaurants and cafés across the capital, while another victim died near the Stade de France, where spectators were watching a football match between France and Germany.
President Emmanuel Macron is expected to visit each of the attack sites before leading a remembrance ceremony at a memorial garden in central Paris.
