IPOB Applauds Delegation for Visiting Nnamdi Kanu in Sokoto Custody
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has extended its gratitude to Abia State Governor Alex Otti; Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu; Hon. Obi Aguocha; and other concerned Igbo leaders for their recent visit to Nnamdi Kanu at the Sokoto Correctional Centre.
In a statement released by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the proscribed group welcomed the visit, describing it as a demonstration of genuine concern for Kanu’s welfare.
The statement noted that IPOB views such interactions as crucial steps towards promoting justice and fairness.
IPOB reaffirmed its stance that Kanu remains innocent, adding that his supporters continue to regard him as a prominent advocate for Igbo rights and interests.
The organisation further expressed optimism that due process would be upheld as legal proceedings progress.
It also urged the Federal Government to maintain transparency in all judicial matters relating to Kanu, while encouraging peaceful and lawful approaches to issues affecting the South-East.
Additionally, IPOB called on leaders, stakeholders, and citizens committed to dialogue to remain engaged in the pursuit of a peaceful resolution to ongoing concerns.
