A Frontline civil activist, Comrade Ezekiel Daniel Perela, has expressed public appreciation to United States President, Donald J. Trump, for imposing visa restrictions on Nigeria, describing the measure as a bold and necessary intervention.

According to Comrade Perela, the move has the potential to catalyse long-overdue reforms within Nigeria’s key democratic institutions, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Judiciary, and the political class.

“For too long, critical institutions have fallen short of their constitutional mandates, often compromising the will of the people and undermining democracy,” he said.

Comrade Perela argued that the imposition of international consequences on elites who benefit from a broken system may force a reckoning, compelling them to act in the genuine interests of the nation.

“Democratic reform and good governance must be driven by accountability, integrity, and respect for the rule of law, principles that have been eroded by years of institutional decay,” he noted.

He called on Nigerians to see the development not as a punishment but as a critical opportunity for national reflection, institutional rebirth, and the restoration of true democratic values.
