Borno Swears in Six New High Court Judges, Expands Judicial Reforms

The Borno State Government on Thursday officially swore in six new High Court judges, a move aimed at strengthening the rule of law and accelerating reforms in the state’s judiciary.

The ceremony, held at the Acting Governor’s Conference Hall in Maiduguri, was presided over by Acting Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, who described the appointments as a strategic effort to improve efficiency, transparency, and public confidence in the judicial system.

Governor Kadafur outlined the state’s ongoing efforts to modernize its courts, including the introduction of electronic filing systems, digital case management tools, and access to online legal resources.

Officials said these measures are intended to reduce delays and streamline judicial processes.

Chief Judge of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zannah, congratulated the newly appointed judges and called on them to uphold integrity, impartiality, and professionalism.

He emphasized that the judiciary remains “the last hope of the common man” and urged the judges to actively support ongoing digital reforms to enhance access to justice.

The Acting Governor pledged continued government support for infrastructure, training, and institutional resources necessary to sustain these reforms.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, judicial officers, and members of the legal profession.
