Arik Air Diverts Safely To Benin Following Engine Anomaly

Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced an investigation into the air accident involving arik air’s boeing 737 aircraft which diverted to Benin airport due to an engine anomaly while flying from Lagos to Port Harcourt Wednesday morning, 11 of February 2026.

NSIB says during the cruise phase of flight the crew detected abnormal indications on one of the engines, the crew then shut down the affected engine and landed safely. No injury was recorded.

While an investigation is ongoing in to the issue, NSIB says a preliminary report will be issued within 30 days in accordance with international civil aviation authority icao provisions.
