The Nigeria Police Force in Borno State has elevated 346 inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, marking one of the largest recent promotions within the state command and underscoring efforts to strengthen leadership within the force.
At a decoration ceremony held Monday at the command headquarters in Maiduguri, the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, formally conferred the new ranks on the officers. The event signaled a major step in the professional advancement of the promoted personnel, many of whom have served in frontline security operations across the state.
In a statement released to journalists by police spokesperson ASP Kenneth Nuhum Daso, the commissioner said the promotion was approved on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission.
He congratulated the officers and praised their resilience, professionalism and sustained contributions to maintaining security in the region.
Abdulmajid told the newly promoted officers that their elevation comes with greater expectations, noting that higher rank demands stronger accountability, leadership and discipline. He urged them to recommit themselves to national service and uphold the highest standards of integrity and diligence in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking on behalf of the promotees, ASP Alison Balla expressed appreciation to the police leadership and the commission for the recognition. He pledged that the officers would remain loyal to the institution and intensify efforts to improve policing and public safety across the state.
