By: Adamu Aliyu Ngulde, Maiduguri
The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Naziru Abdulmajid, has extended greetings to Muslim faithful on the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan, calling for renewed prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity across the region and the nation.
In a statement issued through the Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Kenneth Daso, the commissioner described Ramadan as a sacred time marked by devotion, sacrifice, and compassion.
He encouraged residents to use the spiritual period to pray for lasting stability, particularly in communities that have faced years of security challenges.
Mr. Abdulmajid also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information throughout the fasting period. He emphasized that cooperation between citizens and law enforcement is essential to maintaining calm and preventing criminal activities.
According to the statement, the command has put in place enhanced security arrangements to ensure a peaceful observance of Ramadan. Patrols have been intensified around mosques, prayer grounds, markets, and other public spaces where large gatherings are expected, as part of broader preventive measures.
The commissioner reassured residents of the police command’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property during the holy month and beyond. He added that emergency contact lines have been made available to the public to ensure rapid response to any security concerns.
