Military to Begin Investigation over Troops Extrajudicial Killing of Civilian

The Headquarters Theatre Command, Operation HADIN KAI, has reacted to a social media report, alleging that on 22 March 2026, troops shot and killed one Abdulrahman Mustapha, referred to as Abchin at the Polo Axis near the Federal High Court Maiduguri.
The unarmed victim was returning from a Sallah visit when the incident occurred.
The report described the incident as an extrajudicial killing, alleging violations of constitutional rights and calling for independent investigation and compensation.
A statement by the Media Information Officer Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba says, the Theatre Command regards these allegations as serious and has initiated appropriate investigation processes to establish the facts.
