The Delta State Police Command on Monday commenced activities marking the 2026 National Police Week with a statewide sanitation and environmental clean-up exercise, alongside a medical outreach programme aimed at enhancing community well-being.

The coordinated clean-up exercise was carried out simultaneously across the Command’s nine Area Commands, with officers and personnel actively engaged in clearing public spaces, drainages, and surrounding environments within their jurisdictions. The initiative highlights the Command’s commitment to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment while fostering stronger ties with communities at the grassroots level.

In parallel, the Command organized a medical outreach at designated locations, including the Police Headquarters, where members of the public received free healthcare services. The outreach featured basic health screenings, medical consultations, and the distribution of essential medications, all targeted at improving public health outcomes.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, led members of the command management team, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical commanders to Anioma Market, where he participated in the sanitation exercise.

Speaking during the event, the Commissioner noted that the activities align with the theme of this year’s National Police Week, “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” He emphasized that modern policing goes beyond enforcement of laws to include community service and active public engagement.

He also urged residents to adopt proper sanitation habits, stressing the importance of cleanliness in maintaining a healthy society.

The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that promote public health, strengthen community relations, and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
