The Coalition of Riverine Communities of Edo State has condemned calls for decentralization of the pipeline surveillance contract, throwing its weight behind Tantita Security Service Limited.

In a statement signed by High Chief Semeon Igbedikuru, Chairman, Hon. Samuel Oroupa, Secretary, and Hon. Ogidigba Ebierin, P.R.O, the group questioned the motives behind the calls for decentralization, urging aggrieved parties to seek dialogue instead of social media attacks.

The coalition appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to expand Tantita’s scope to cover Edo State, citing ongoing bunkering activities in Abudu/Obeh axis of Ohriomwon LGA. They also urged the president to involve more stakeholders in the region.

The group credited Tantita with employing thousands of youths, curbing crime, oil theft, and illegal bunkering, and restoring aquatic life in the Niger Delta Region. They warned against politicizing the fragile peace in the region, emphasizing that Nigeria cannot afford to compromise the progress made.

The statement highlighted the positive impact of Tantita’s activities, including a booming regional economy and fast-spreading development. The coalition urged support for Tantita, emphasizing its role in maintaining peace and security in the Niger Delta Region.
