The Delta State Police Command has recorded fresh breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on crime, arresting suspected cultists, kidnappers, armed robbers, and drug peddlers in a series of coordinated, intelligence-led operations across the state.

The operations, conducted between April 4 and 5, resulted in multiple arrests and the recovery of firearms, live ammunition, illicit drugs, and dangerous weapons, underscoring the Command’s sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks and enhance public safety.

In one of the operations carried out on April 4 in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, operatives of the Raiders Unit acting on credible intelligence raided a suspected criminal hideout, leading to the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect identified as Henry Obi.

Police sources revealed that the suspect confessed to being a member of the Aiye Confraternity. A search of the premises led to the recovery of an English-made pistol loaded with six rounds of live ammunition. Further inspection uncovered quantities of suspected illicit drugs cleverly concealed inside a standing air conditioner, indicating deliberate attempts to evade detection.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

In a separate operation on April 5, operatives of the Buffalo Team, in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Achalla Branch, carried out a raid at Hausa Market near the Customs checkpoint along the Benin–Asaba Expressway.

The operation led to the arrest of four suspects aged between 16 and 21 years. Authorities recovered significant quantities of suspected illicit substances, including Colorado, Canadian Loud, Indian hemp, tramadol, and swinol. Also recovered were two locally fabricated battle axes and a sum of ₦144,000 believed to be proceeds of criminal activity.

All suspects arrested in the operations are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing.

Commending the operatives for their swift and coordinated response, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, emphasized that such targeted operations remain crucial in the Command’s fight against crime.

He further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information, assuring that the Police will sustain efforts to protect lives and property across Delta State.

The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on behalf of the Command.
