2026 Amaseikumor Festival Day 4: Medical Team Performs Surgeries, Treats Hundreds
By Joseph Bienbo, Oporoza
The 2026 Amaseikumor Festival has entered its fourth day in Oporoza, Delta State, with a medical team successfully operating on 60 eye patients and extracting teeth from 200 patients.
The free medical services, provided by Esther Matthew Tonlagha Foundation, Tompolo Foundation, and Mom and Infant Care Network, aimed to address various health challenges faced by participants.
Ophthalmologist Dr. Olowo Layemo stated that their team restored sight and operated on patients with cataract, pterygium, and glaucoma. Patients with shortsightedness received free medicated glasses. Dentist Dr. Asemota Festus extracted teeth from 160 patients and performed scaling and polishing on 40 others, providing free toothbrushes and toothpaste.
The Head of Medical Team, Dr. Clarkson Agagha, appreciated the foundations for their support, noting that four medical stands and mobile ambulances attended to emergency cases. Beneficiaries of the free medical services thanked the organizers, citing financial constraints that previously prevented them from seeking treatment.
The festival’s grand finale is scheduled for April 11, 2026, at Oporoza Mini Stadium, featuring Dr. Alfred Izon-ebi’s highlife music performance. The event has drawn dignitaries from Nigeria and abroad, boosting local tourism and economic activities.
