A stakeholder and candidate for National Treasurer, Hon. Moses Douglas in the April 13, 2026 Ijaw National Congress (INC) election, has commended the peaceful and transparent manner in which the polls were conducted, describing the exercise as a model for others seeking credible elections.

He further congratulated the Chief Barr MacDonald Igbadiwei for emerging as president of the Apex Ijaw national body.

The former INC election candidate commended the National Assembly for its recent vote of confidence on Tantita Security Services during its roundtable on pipeline security. He described the resolution as recognition of Tantita’s role in safeguarding critical national assets and improving security in the Niger Delta.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 14 2026, Douglas said the INC 2026 National Executive Council election was free of rancor and reflected the will of delegates. He noted that the process should be studied and replicated by other socio-cultural and political organizations desirous of transparent leadership selection.

Douglas also congratulated all winners in the election and specially saluted his opponent, Chief Sheriff Mulade PhD, who emerged as National Treasurer. He urged the newly elected NEC, led by President-Elect High Chief Barr. MacDonald Ebi Igbadiwei, to prioritize peace and unity across all Ijaw clans and zones. “The task before the new leadership is to ensure the Ijaw Nation remains peaceful and united,” he said.

The statement read, “I want to use this opportunity to commend the National Assembly for its recent vote of confidence on Tantita Security Services during its roundtable on pipeline security. I described the resolution as recognition of Tantita’s role in safeguarding critical national assets and improving security in the Niger Delta”.

He urged the Federal Government and relevant agencies to sustain the partnership with Tantita and other credible indigenous security firms, stressing that community-based surveillance remains key to lasting peace in the oil-producing areas.

The INC scribe praised the National Assembly for looking beyond politics to assess performance on the ground, adding that the vote of confidence will boost the morale of local contractors and communities engaged in the pipeline surveillance initiative. According to him, the model has not only enhanced security but also created jobs for thousands of youths who would otherwise be vulnerable to criminal networks.

He noted that since Tantita Security Services came on board, cases of pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft, and illegal bunkering have reduced significantly across several corridors of the Niger Delta, leading to improved crude production volumes and revenue for the country.

The former National Treasurer candidate called on all stakeholders and aspirants to close ranks with the new INC leadership to advance the collective interest of the Ijaw people.

The INC election, held in April 2026, produced a new leadership expected to pilot the affairs of the apex Ijaw socio-cultural body for the next tenure.
