The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has intensified proactive policing efforts with a comprehensive supervisory tour of key security formations and flashpoints across Asaba, Ugbolu, and surrounding areas.

The tour, aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and reinforcing ethical standards, covered strategic locations including the Second Niger Bridge, Asaba Head Bridge, and the Ugbolu–Illah Road intervention point. At each stop, the CP assessed ongoing security deployments and engaged officers on duty.

While commending personnel for their commitment, CP Oyeniyi issued a firm directive against any form of misconduct, stressing that the Command will not tolerate actions that could erode public confidence. He instructed officers to maintain proper dressing, uphold a smart appearance, and exhibit conduct consistent with the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.

Addressing officers during the visit, the Commissioner underscored the importance of vigilance and professionalism, noting that their primary responsibility is to monitor activities within their jurisdictions and promptly address any observed wrongdoing. He further charged them to interact with members of the public with civility, respect, and a strong sense of duty.

The CP also warned against harassment, abuse, and incivility, reiterating that modern policing must be people-centered and aligned with established human rights standards.

As part of the inspection, CP Oyeniyi visited the Area Command, Asaba, alongside ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ Divisions within the metropolis, where he met with Divisional Police Officers and other personnel. He stressed the need for discipline, integrity, and professionalism, with a strong caution against extortion, describing it as a serious offense that undermines public trust and attracts strict disciplinary sanctions.

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the Police Commissioner called on residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance crime prevention and response efforts.

The tour forms part of ongoing initiatives by the Delta State Police Command to promote accountability, improve service delivery, and strengthen community trust in law enforcement.
