Delta CP Inspects UTME Centres, Assures Tight Security Across Asaba
By Chukwunonso Eric, Warri.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has conducted an on-the-spot assessment of security arrangements at designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Asaba, as part of measures to ensure a smooth and secure conduct of the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The inspection, carried out on Friday, aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police and underscores the Command’s commitment to proactive “visibility policing” across examination venues in the state.
During the visit, CP Oyeniyi evaluated security deployments at various centres, engaged officers on duty, and stressed the importance of professionalism, alertness, and civility in their interactions with candidates and the public.
Addressing officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Police Commissioner commended them for the orderly conduct of the examination so far, while reaffirming the Command’s readiness to provide necessary security support throughout the exercise. He urged officials to promptly report any security concerns, assuring that swift response mechanisms are in place.
“The personnel deployed are not only to maintain order but to ensure the safety of both candidates and examination officials,” the CP stated.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance with earlier directives on adequate security deployment across centres, while reiterating that Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers must sustain effective supervision throughout the examination period.
The Delta State Police Command has maintained heightened security presence at all UTME centres to guarantee a hitch-free exercise, as candidates continue to sit for the nationwide examination.
The Command also reaffirmed its broader commitment to safeguarding public activities through strategic policing initiatives across the state.
