The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the importance of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration following a series of strategic courtesy visits to key security institutions in the state.

The visits, which took place between April 20 and April 22, 2026, saw the police chief engage with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Correctional Service as part of efforts to strengthen coordinated responses to evolving security challenges.

Accompanied by members of the Command’s management team, the CP first visited the DSS Director in Delta State on April 20, before proceeding to similar engagements with the Immigration and Correctional Service leadership on April 22.

During the meetings, Oyeniyi emphasized that modern policing is heavily reliant on timely and actionable intelligence, describing it as the cornerstone of effective security management. He noted that collaboration among security agencies remains indispensable, commending the existing synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and sister agencies in maintaining peace and order across the state.

The police commissioner also highlighted pressing security concerns, including cultism, kidnapping, communal clashes, human trafficking, and drug trafficking. He stressed the need for sustained joint efforts, particularly as the state prepares for forthcoming elections, adding that his administration would continue to leverage the experience and institutional knowledge of officers and partner agencies.

In response, the DSS Director in Delta State underscored the collective nature of intelligence gathering, noting that no single agency can effectively manage security challenges in isolation.

At the Nigeria Immigration Service, the CP was received by the State Comptroller, G. C. Ozodinobi, while the State Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Chuke Chike Idoko, hosted the delegation at the correctional command headquarters.

Both officials commended the police commissioner for the initiative, reiterating their commitment to sustained collaboration. They emphasized that collective action remains the most effective approach to tackling contemporary security threats and ensuring public safety.

The visits underscore a renewed commitment among security agencies in Delta State to deepen cooperation, enhance intelligence sharing, and maintain law and order across the state.
