Key players in migration and diaspora engagement have called for stronger collaboration and more coordinated policies to maximise the contributions of Nigerians abroad, at a high-level meeting in Abuja.

Speaking at the gathering of the Standing Committee on Diaspora Matters, Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, stressed the need for sustained partnerships and inclusive strategies to better harness the potential of the Nigerian diaspora.

The meeting brought together government officials, international partners and state representatives to assess ongoing initiatives and identify gaps in diaspora engagement efforts.

Participants also explored new approaches to strengthen diaspora participation in national development, amid growing recognition of the economic and social impact of Nigerians living overseas.

The Standing Committee on Diaspora Matters is expected to intensify efforts at aligning policies and driving more impactful diaspora-focused programmes nationwide.
