Delta Police Intensify Crime Prevention Operations, Arrest Suspects in Asaba

The Delta State Police Command has intensified its proactive policing strategy aimed at strengthening public safety and enforcing traffic and security regulations across the state.
The Command disclosed that a coordinated crime prevention operation carried out within the Asaba metropolis led to the impoundment of several vehicles and the arrest of suspects linked to obstruction and assault on police officers.
According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the operation was conducted on May 8, 2026, under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, as part of efforts to enhance visibility policing and effective supervision across the state.
The operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations alongside a combined team of operatives drawn from the Department of Operations (DOPS Buffalo), Special Enquiry Unit, and Operation Delta Shield.
During the enforcement exercise, police operatives impounded twenty-two vehicles for various traffic and regulatory violations. The offences included operating unregistered vehicles, driving without registration number plates, driving against traffic regulations, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Command further revealed that three suspects were arrested for allegedly obstructing and assaulting police officers while carrying out their lawful duties during the operation.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to professionalism and fairness, the police stated that law enforcement activities would continue without bias or regard to social status.
“The Delta State Police Command remains firm, professional, and unbiased in enforcing the law, irrespective of status or position,” the statement noted.
Residents of the state were urged to remain law-abiding and continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information capable of aiding crime prevention and ensuring public safety across Delta State.
