Nigeria Strengthens Disease Outbreak Preparedness Through €4.2 Million EU WHO Programme

The Federal government and its partners have taken steps towards strengthening the capacity of Nigeria’s healthcare delivery system with the launch of the European Union support to public health institutes in Nigeria called EU spin project

The 4.2 million pounds project funded by the European Union will be implemented by the World Health Organization in partnership with the Federal ministry of health and social welfare.

Launching the EU support to public health institutes in Nigeria (EU spin) in Abuja, the minister of state health Dr Iziaq Saloko, the initiative is designed to strengthen the health institutions, improve the well‑being of Nigerians, especially the vulnerable populations.

The European Union ambassador to Nigeria Gautier Mignot, observed that through EU spin, the European Union is investing in strong, digitally enabled public health institutions in the country.

While the WHO representative in Nigeria Dr Pavel Ursu said the project will improve coordination, help protect lives and keep communities healthier.
