Operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) have arrested two suspected drug dealers and recovered a large cache of suspected illicit and controlled substances during a targeted operation in Sapele Local Government Area of the state.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of May 22, 2026, followed credible intelligence gathered by the police concerning alleged drug trafficking activities in the Amukpe area of Sapele.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, VCRU operatives stormed a suspected drug hideout at about 5:30 a.m., leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as Onyedikachi, 40, and Edna Karaki, 36, both residents of Amukpe, Sapele.
During a search conducted at the location, police recovered large quantities of substances suspected to be illicit and controlled drugs, including Tramadol, CSC Codeine, Molly, Swinol, Vagadine, Red Boy, Zaza, Taker, and other harmful substances.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of the recovered drugs. Police authorities disclosed that both suspects reportedly confessed to dealing in controlled substances during interrogation.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to uncover the extent of the operation and identify other members of the alleged drug network.
