The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will hold a Special National Convention on Saturday, May 30, 2026, to ratify the nomination of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

According to an official invitation signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong mnipr, and National Organising Secretary, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan, the convention will take place at the ‘A’ Class Event Centre, Kassim Ibrahim Way, Wuse 2, Abuja, starting at 10:00 AM prompt.

The convention is expected to bring together PDP stakeholders, members of the National Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, state chairmen, delegates, and party faithful from across the 36 states and the FCT to formally endorse Jonathan’s candidacy.

Party sources say the ratification process follows weeks of consultations and internal alignments within the PDP, as the opposition party positions itself ahead of the 2027 presidential race. Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s President from 2010 to 2015, has remained an influential figure in national politics and is expected to address delegates on his vision for the country if elected.

The choice of venue in Wuse 2 reflects the PDP’s plan to accommodate a large turnout of party members, supporters, and observers for the high-profile political event.

In a closing line on the invitation, the phrase “ME- BIG MASQUERADE HAS ENTERED D MARKET” appeared, a statement widely interpreted by party insiders and supporters as a declaration of Jonathan’s political re-entry and the PDP’s renewed push for power in 2027.

Security and logistics teams are expected to be deployed at the venue to ensure orderliness, while media accreditation will be coordinated by the Office of the National Publicity Secretary.
