BREAKING: Omo-Agege Joins NDC, Unveils 2027 Delta Central Senate Bid

Ex-Deputy Senate President and Obarisi of Urhoboland, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has defected to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and declared his candidacy for the Delta Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued Thursday, May 28, 2026, Omo-Agege said the decision followed weeks of consultations with political associates and stakeholders nationwide. He stated that Deltans are seeking leadership grounded in accountability, integrity, and tangible results.

Omo-Agege praised NDC leaders including Senators Seriake Dickson and Moses Cleopas, Governor Peter Obi, and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for their engagement during the process. He described the NDC as a platform committed to true federalism, grassroots participation, and people-oriented governance.

Criticizing the state of development in Delta, he cited poor infrastructure, high unemployment, weak healthcare, and declining schools despite substantial federal allocations. He said the state deserves transparent governance focused on service delivery rather than political publicity.

The former lawmaker pledged to prioritize effective representation, fair federal allocation, job creation, and improvements in healthcare and education if elected. He also urged youths, women, traditional rulers, and voters to actively engage ahead of 2027, framing the election as a choice between the current political culture and a new direction centered on accountability.
