Ex-Niger Delta Agitators Condemn Alleged Hate Speeches Against Rotimi Amaechi, Backs ADC Presidential Ticket

The Ex-Niger Delta Agitators Forum for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned what it described as a sustained campaign of calumny and propaganda against former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

In a communiqué issued after a stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday in Apata, a riverine community in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, the forum expressed concern over what it called coordinated attacks allegedly aimed at discrediting Amaechi following his recent political prominence.

The meeting, hosted by the forum’s Western Zone Coordinator, Gen. Godswill Nanakuro, was attended by members drawn from the various phases of the Niger Delta ex-agitators working with the ADC.

According to the forum, Amaechi’s recent political engagements have demonstrated leadership, national appeal, and a deep understanding of Nigeria’s political landscape, qualities it said have unsettled political opponents and changed public perception of the ADC’s prospects, particularly in Southern Nigeria.

The group alleged that vested interests and elements within the ruling APC had resorted to sponsoring negative media campaigns against Amaechi in an attempt to undermine the growing support and admiration he has attracted across the country.

The forum resolved that it would not tolerate further attacks on the former minister and condemned what it described as a malicious campaign allegedly orchestrated by political opponents to tarnish his image.

It also appealed to Nigerians to disregard what it termed misinformation and continue supporting the ADC presidential ticket of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi, describing it as the best alternative for addressing Nigeria’s challenges in security, the economy, and infrastructure.

The communiqué was jointly signed by the forum’s National Chairman, Gen. Ojuemi Oweikeme, Secretary, Gen. Markson Isere, and National Spokesperson, Comrade Daniel Ezekiel Perela.
