Delta Police, NPF Trust Fund Empower 100 Wives of Junior Officers with Vocational Skills, Starter Packs

The Delta State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund (NPFTF), has empowered 100 wives of junior police officers in Delta State with vocational training and starter kits aimed at promoting economic self-reliance and improving family welfare.

The four-day skills acquisition programme, which concluded on July 23, trained beneficiaries in tailoring and hairdressing, with 79 women receiving tailoring training and 21 trained in hairdressing. At the end of the programme, each participant was presented with equipment to enable them establish businesses in their chosen trades.

Representing the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, at the closing ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, commended the participants for their dedication throughout the training. He urged them to make productive use of the skills acquired by building sustainable businesses capable of supporting their families and improving their livelihoods.

The DCP also encouraged the women to continue supporting and praying for their husbands as they carry out the demanding responsibility of safeguarding lives and property across the country.

Speaking at the event, Team Lead of the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund, Charles Omorogiuwa, described the initiative as part of the Trust Fund’s commitment to improving the welfare of police families through sustainable empowerment programmes. He noted that the initiative was implemented under the leadership of the Executive Secretary of the Trust Fund, Mohammed Sheidu, and urged beneficiaries to seize the opportunity to become financially independent.

Also addressing participants, the President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Delta State Chapter, Rosemary Adejo, expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund for the initiative and encouraged the beneficiaries to remain committed to the trades they had learned.

In his remarks, CP Yemi Oyeniyi praised the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund for its continued investment in the welfare of police personnel and their families. He noted that strengthening the economic capacity of officers’ families would boost morale, enhance welfare, and promote stronger, more resilient homes, ultimately supporting the Nigeria Police Force in its mandate of protecting lives and property.
