FRSC Confirms 20 Deaths In Kibo–Jos Road Crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of 20 people in a multiple road traffic crash along the hawan kibo–jos route in Plateau State.

The crash occurred on friday, 2 october 2026, and involved 25 people.

A statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, osondu ohaeri, the frsc indicates that brake failure and subsequent loss of control may have caused the crash.

Reacting to the incident, the Corps marshal, shehu mohammed, urged motorists, particularly operators of commercial and heavy-duty vehicles, to prioritise vehicle roadworthiness, proper maintenance, speed management, and responsible driving.

The statement also reiterates the importance of ensuring that vehicles are in safe operating condition before being put on the road.
