The National President of the Niger Delta Youths for Good Governance (NDYFGG), Comrade Lucky O.O. Ukueku, has defended High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, Dr. Kestin Pondi and Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro over their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in a statement issued to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, October 15, 2026, Ukueku said political differences should not be allowed to degenerate into personal attacks, stressing that every Nigerian has the constitutional right to support a candidate or political party of choice.

Ukueku, who described himself as neither a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) nor a supporter of President Tinubu, said he would nevertheless not support attempts to condemn or attack individuals simply because of their political choices. He maintained that elections are temporary while the unity of Nigeria and the Niger Delta remains paramount.

The NDYFGG president particularly commended Tompolo for spearheading the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in support of President Tinubu’s 2027 ambition, saying the campaign has extended across Nigeria and into the diaspora. He also acknowledged the roles of Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, and Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, in supporting the movement.

According to Ukueku, Tompolo’s support for the Tinubu administration should be viewed as his personal political choice and should not be interpreted as an attempt to compel others to adopt the same position. He urged Nigerians to embrace political tolerance and persuasion rather than condemnation, noting that no individual has the power to force another person to support a particular presidential candidate.

While defending Tompolo and his associates, Ukueku disclosed that his own preferred presidential candidate for 2027 is Prince Dr. Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), stressing that his decision is based on his membership and allegiance to the party.

He concluded by urging Nigerians and Niger Delta stakeholders to respect divergent political opinions, emphasizing that individuals have different reasons for supporting particular candidates. He commended Tompolo, Pondi and Otuaro for standing by their political convictions and wished them continued strength in their endeavours.
