By Chukwunonso Eric Warri.
The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected cultists and armed robbers in separate operations in Agbarho and Oghara, recovering six firearms, four live cartridges, 10 expended cartridges and other suspected criminal exhibits.
In the first operation, operatives of the Command Anti-Cultism Unit (CACU), Sector 3, Ovwian-Aladja, arrested a 34-year-old suspect, Akpoghene Goodluck, during a patrol along the Agbarho–Warri Expressway on November 4, 2026.
The suspect reportedly attempted to evade the operatives, prompting his arrest. A search of the premises where he was apprehended led to the recovery of two locally fabricated guns and 10 expended cartridges.
Further investigation resulted in the arrest of another suspect, 50-year-old Solomon Arhugberume James, at whose residence operatives recovered a pump-action gun and one live cartridge.
The police said both suspects claimed to be members of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security outfit but failed to produce identification to substantiate their claims.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Oghara Police Division arrested a 23-year-old suspected Eiye confraternity member, Clinton Awuerowswo, popularly known as Clinbaby, who had reportedly been on the run following an earlier firearms recovery at his residence in March 2026.
The arrest, which took place on October 23, led to the recovery of one Beretta pistol, two locally made cut-to-size guns, three live cartridges, a battle axe and a jackknife.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly admitted ownership of the weapons and membership of the Eiye confraternity during preliminary interrogation.
The Command said investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the cases and determine whether other individuals were involved.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, warned against cultism and the unlawful possession of firearms, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustained operations against criminal groups.
He urged members of the public to provide credible information to assist security operations, assuring residents that the identities of informants would be treated with confidentiality.
