The CONFAB for the Actualization of Human Rights has felicitated with renowned human rights advocate, Dr. Akpo Mudiagha Odje, as he marks his 60th birthday today, October 26, 2026.
In a congratulatory statement signed by its National Secretary, Comrade Austin Ozobo, the group described Dr. Odje as a legend of the struggle, a champion of human rights, and a leading voice for resource control and resource derivation in the Niger Delta.
The statement read that Dr. Odje’s life represents courage, conviction, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to justice.
According to CONFAB, Dr. Odje’s contributions to the struggle for resource control and derivation have helped sustain the aspirations of the people for equity, fairness, economic justice, and the right of resource-bearing communities to benefit from the wealth of their land.
“You have stood as a voice for the oppressed, a defender of the people’s rights, and a symbol of determination in the continuous struggle for justice. To many of us in the human rights community, you are more than an advocate; you are our hero, our inspiration, and a living testament to the power of courage and conviction,” the statement added.
The organization said as Dr. Odje celebrates six decades of life, it honours not only his age but also his legacy, sacrifices, and the ideals he continues to represent.
CONFAB prayed for good health, renewed strength, wisdom, and greater accomplishments for the celebrant, noting that his 60th birthday should mark the beginning of a more glorious chapter filled with greater influence and enduring victories in the struggle for human rights.
“Happy Diamond Jubilee, our hero! Sixty years of life. Decades of advocacy. A legacy of courage. A struggle that lives on,” the group stated.
