Harry Kane Crowned 2026 Ballon d’Or Winner Ahead of Mbappé, Yamal
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
England captain Harry Kane has reportedly won the 2026 Ballon d’Or, beating France’s Kylian Mbappé and Spain’s Lamine Yamal to claim football’s most prestigious individual award.
The Bayern Munich striker also secured the Gerd Müller Trophy for the best goalscorer, capping what has been described as an outstanding season for club and country.
Mbappé finished second in the Ballon d’Or rankings, while Barcelona youngster Yamal placed third. Spain midfielder Rodri came fourth, followed by Argentina’s Lionel Messi in fifth place.
The remaining players in the top 10 were Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, Erling Haaland, Michael Olise and Fabián Ruiz, who finished sixth to tenth respectively.
Kane’s reported triumph would mark a major milestone for English football, with Liverpool legend Michael Owen the last Englishman to win the men’s Ballon d’Or, in 2001.
The Ballon d’Or, presented by France Football, recognises outstanding individual performances in football. However, the reported 2026 results should be confirmed against official Ballon d’Or announcements before publication.
