Nigerian Man Declared Wanted by US Department of Labour Over Money Laundering
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
A Nigerian, Onoriode Ezewu, has been declared wanted by the United States Department of Labour’s Office of Inspector General over alleged concealment money laundering involving more than $1 million in losses.
Ezewu was among 16 individuals featured on a wanted list published by Anthony P. D’Esposito, Inspector General of the US Department of Labour, on his official X account.
The publication included photographs and details of the individuals, alongside the alleged offences and financial losses linked to some of the cases. The accusations range from money laundering and healthcare fraud to immigration fraud, theft of government funds and labour trafficking.
According to the information released by the agency, Ezewu is accused of concealment money laundering, an offence that generally involves disguising the source, ownership or movement of proceeds from illegal activities to make them appear legitimate.
In his post, D’Esposito urged those who recognised themselves on the list to seek legal advice rather than respond publicly.
“If you recognize yourself, skip the comments and call your lawyer,” he wrote.
He added that the Department of Labour’s Office of Inspector General, alongside the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud associated with Vice President JD Vance, was pursuing the cases.
