Emonu-Orogun Youths Ughelli North swear-in new leaders
The Emonu Orogun Youth Council in Ughelli North Local Government area of Delta State has sworn-in its elected new leadership on Sunday.
It was learned the inauguration ceremony and oath of office was performed by the president general of the community (Emonu Orogun), Hon. Chief Henry Itedjere at the King’s palace, the Okpara of Emonu Palace.
The new Exco of Emonu youths Council includes Chikwendu Newman Nyerhovwo as president, Sylvester Okpako vice, Isaac Odjago Akporhere secretary, ThankGod Ekpeti, treasurer, Richard Osedji financial secretary and Odiru Felix provost.
The president general (PG ), in his address stated that the timely inauguration of the body was to complement the Okpara in Council and the Emonu Development Union (EDU) to foster love, unity and development in the community.
Itedjere who explained that there wouldn’t be lacuna in leadership structure in a community, urged the youths to work in line with constitution of the youth body, the community and be law abiding. He added that any attempt to go against the law of the land he would apply all legal actions to desolve them.
The PG who said the community is facing many challenges, added that the youth body would be of helping hand in addressing some of these bottlenecks.
He stressed that Songai company’s CLO was given to Ukoene person of the community, noting that the youths should be aware of it.
Itedjere advised the youths not to operate in hearsay (rumor ) but should carried out their activities with facts and evidence.
The PG while performing the oath of office in the presence of the traditional ruler reposed confidence on the calibre of the newly sworn-in Exco as he urged them to operate within the law of the land.
Speaking, the king gave his royal blessings, urging them to always seek advice and be law abiding.
He stressed further that for those who were not part of the Exco should also work with the new Exco because leadership is turn by turn.
In his acceptance speech the Emonu Youth Leader thanked the Okpara in Council, the PG and the entire Emonu people for the confidence reposed on them to serve the community as to sustain unity, love, progress and development of the community.
The leader who assured the community of total commitment said the Exco would not fail and disappoint them, adding that they would operate within the ambit of the law.
He thanked Deacon Monday Enudi for his supports and other well meaning Emonu people for supporting them towards the success of the ceremony.
Congress reports that the new Exco tenure would last for three years.
