NDDC: S’S leaders accuse N/Delta minister, attorney- general for appointing junior director as sole administrator

•S’S leaders give a 7-day ultimatum to correct the injustice

Following the recent appointment of the sole administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, South-South Forum, which comprised all stakeholders in the nine Oil Producing States in the Niger Delta Region have openly accused the Hon. Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, Hon.Minister of Justice, Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami CON (SAN), and other cabals in the Presidency of flagrantly disobeying the orders and directives of Mr. President for the selection and appointment of the most Senior Director as the Ag.Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC).

The leaders in a statement by Johnson Tamarapreye, chairman and Efe Ogheneovo Secretary issued a seven days ultimatum to President Buhari to correct the injustice meted out in the region to avoid rancour.

The Forum frowned and condemned the dubious and fraudulent manner, the Hon. The Minister of MDNA unilaterally announced the most Junior Director as Ag. Managing Director of NDDC.

The Forum equally used this medium to give 7 days Ultimatum for the federal government to do the needful as they threatened legal action.

According to the statement, “Glasgow Victor, Prince Alazigha, and Rachel Oddiri were appointed as Directors 2010, 2011, and 2013 on the board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), while Audu, Kaltungo, and others were appointed Directors in 2015 respectively. By this order and sequence, Glasgow Victor is the most senior Director and only he ought to be appointed as the Acting Managing Director of NDDC since he is still active in service and not Audu.

“All we are saying is that the right thing must be done. We appeal to the President to prevail on the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and direct him to appoint Glasgow Victor as the Acting Managing Director of NDDC to avoid rancour and bad precedence.

“We want peace and justice to prevail in the Niger Delta region, due process and diligence should be followed.

“In the second paragraph of the letter sent by the Hon. Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Okon Umana stated “President Buhari has further approved that the most senior director in the commission should take over and perform the duties of the managing director in acting capacity in line with the provision of the extant Federal Government Circular Ref No. SGF.50/S.II/C.22/268.

“Mr. Glasgow Victor Seigha is the most Senior Director in NDDC as a civil servant who is trusted and selfless Director in NDDC and therefore, he ought to be made acting managing director of the commission says South South Forum,” the leaders added.
