ADC Coalition Signals New Political Battle as Youth Group Congratulates Atiku Abubakar

A political support group, Youth O’Clock Agenda Worldwide, has congratulated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar,  following his emergence as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the development as a major turning point in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by Comrade Hon. Daniel Ezekiel Perela, Founder of Youth O’Clock Agenda Worldwide, the group said the unveiling of the ADC coalition had revived the hopes of many Nigerians who were allegedly frustrated by the current state of governance under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group claimed that before the emergence of the coalition platform, opposition parties in the country had been weakened by internal crises and political divisions allegedly fuelled by forces within the Presidency.

According to the statement, many Nigerians had become increasingly concerned over insecurity, economic hardship and what it described as the growing threat of a one-party state in the country.

“Youth O’Clock Agenda congratulates His Excellency Atiku Abubakar on his emergence as the candidate of our great party, African Democratic Congress. Nigerians had become helpless in the face of insecurity and bad governance with no visible way out,” the statement read.

The group further stated that the coming together of opposition figures under the ADC platform on May 2, 2025, marked a significant shift in the nation’s political direction, adding that the coalition had continued to challenge the policies and actions of the Tinubu administration.

It also praised other aspirants who participated in the party’s presidential primary, particularly former Minister of Transportation,  and Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, for what it described as their courage, resilience and competitive spirit during the contest.

The organisation appealed to the defeated aspirants and their supporters to unite behind the party’s presidential candidate in order to strengthen the opposition ahead of the next election cycle.

“Like Atiku Abubakar said in his speech after the primary, there is no loser. All party members and contestants are winners,” the statement added.

The group further accused the APC-led administration of failing to effectively tackle hunger, insecurity and other socio-economic challenges confronting the country, insisting that Nigerians deserved a government with a “clear-cut agenda” capable of addressing the nation’s problems.

“As we collectively move into the next stage, our eyes should remain on the goal of rescuing Nigeria and repositioning the country for progress and stability,” the statement concluded.
