Anxiety As 4 killed in Cult Clash in Bayelsa

About four persons were killed in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa state over the cult crisis on Sunday

The fierce cult battle occurred a few days after communities in the state capital placed a ban on cult activities in the area.

It was gathered that the clash, which occurred in Swali, was between the Dey-Well and Bobos cult groups which three persons were allegedly killed.

The three persons were found dead at a road linking Aritalin road to Obele Street in the Ovom area of Yenagoa during the clash.

Another person was reportedly killed in the Osiri area of the Ekeki suburb of Yenagoa metropolis rounding up the number of fatalities to four.

However, details of the clash between the cult groups were unknown to the public.

An eminent entertainer, Laffcyrup Odumgele, on his Facebook page has called on the aid of the State Government to take the issue of security seriously.

The entertainer wrote: “Bayelsa State government should look into the level of insecurity, particularly cult activities, seriously.”

A source who pleaded on the condition of anonymity maintained that rival cult clashes usually occurred because politicians engage and empower cult members in their political activities.

The police spokesperson for the state confirmed the incident and posited that about two persons were killed.

He added that the Police have arrested four persons in connection with the incident, stressing that the investigation was ongoing.
