Apprehension as Police engage suspected gunmen in fierce gun duel in Delta

There was pandemonium in Usiefurun Community in Ughelli South Local government area of Delta State as Policemen engaged suspected gunmen in fierce gun duel, leading arrest of the suspects.

The incident took place within the hours of 8:15pm, Monday, February, 2021.

It was learnt about one persons was injured by stray bullet during the exchange of gunfire between the policemen and suspected robbers.

Delta State PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident, adding: “the suspects hijacked a POS operator, however security operatives escorting an important personality engaged the culprits in a gun-battle that led to the ‘the’ accident.”

According to the police spokesman, some arms were recovered from the suspects and they have been taken into custody.

It was gathered the two suspects in a Toyota Corolla ran to Ekrokpe Community, where their car was shot, the driver lost control and crashed into a school fence and the culprits were caught in Egbo- Ekrokpe road.

An eye witness, a member of the community, Mr. Moses Omoefe, narrated that he was in his car when an hilux passed by and there was an exchange of gunshots between some security operatives in the hilux and the two boys including a driver in a Toyota Corolla car.

The community vice president added that the two boys were caught trying to escape but had been taken to Otujeremi police station.

He further confirmed that some female items were found in the car alongside some particulars.
