JUST IN: Army reclaims Rann town in a bloody bullet exchange

The Nigerian military has recaptured Rann, the headquarters of Kala Balge Local Government of Borno State from ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists after the Community was captured eight hours earlier in bloody gun duel.

Congress reports that the community came under attack by ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists on Tuesday, where the town and military formation were over-ran in the area, forcing civilians to flee for safety in the bushes.

Source said the military reinforced after 8hours of the incident, in both air and land and launched another attack to reclaim the town from the terrorists.

A military source, who pleaded annomity disclosed that the terrorists were chased out of the town after heavy air support for the Airforce forces.

“A fierce air support from the air force forced the terrorists to sneak out of Rann and our men are currently in control of the town,” the security source disclosed.

A resident of Rann also said: “The terrorists did not sleep in the town, they were chased away by our gallant troops”.

The source also confirmed that four people, including a soldier and Civilian JTF, died during the attack.

The community had encountered some serious banditry attacks overtimes.

Recall, one of the deadly attacks on the town was in January 2017 when the Air Force mistakenly fired on a large number of Civilians with a large casualty of residents.
