Army lay siege to Sokoto over bandits threat of attack

Following the bandits threat to attack some Communities in Sokoto State, army and policemen have been beefed up in major entrance points in the state.

Congress learnt that the notice of attack on some villages by bandits was found under a tree in Shuni, a community in Dange/Shuni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.However, some fleeing bandits from Zamfara forests, who stormed and killed residents of border villages in Sokoto State last week were figured to have allegedly sent the threat notice of further impending attacks.

The bandits allegedly issued the notice of attack to five Sokoto communities of Shuni, Kwanar Kimba, Rikina and Dange.

The note reads, “A million army personnel will not stop us from carrying out the attacks, which may be carried out any moment from now.”Since the notice was seen, it was gathered that security had been beefed up; a large number of soldiers were seen along and at the entrance into the Giginya Army barracks.

Meantime, residents confirmed the increase of security operatives in major roads and entrance points in the state.But there has not been any official statement from army and police departments in spite
of the threat.
