ASEKUTU TAKES HELM AS TUC CHAIRMAN IN DELTA

A new chapter has unfolded in Delta State’s labour movement as Comrade Wilson Asekutu emerged unopposed as Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Delta State Council.
The 1st Quadrennial Delegates’ Conference, held at Samuel Dietake Multipurpose Event Hall, Asaba, witnessed a smooth and peaceful transition, showcasing the Congress’s commitment to democratic values.
Representing TUC President General, Comrade Festus Osifo, Comrade Oluchi-Favour Ubani praised the Delta State Council for the seamless process, highlighting the Congress’s resolve to build a stronger labour movement.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Asekutu pledged to prioritize workers’ welfare, addressing issues like casualisation, job insecurity, and fair wages, while strengthening solidarity among affiliate unions.
A seasoned labour leader, Comrade Asekutu brings experience from PENGASSAN, where he served as Warri Zonal Secretary. Delta workers are optimistic about his leadership, expecting a robust and responsive labour front.
The new executive is set to tackle critical issues affecting Delta workers, including rising living costs and workplace safety.
