ASUU strike: NDU loses 300- level student in fatal road accident

Amid the prolonged strike issued by the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) to press on with their demands from the federal government of Nigeria, a 300-level student of the Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island Amassoma, Bayelsa state has lost her life in a fatal road accident along the varsity new site gate at Ogobiri roundabout on Wednesday morning.

A source disclosed the victim’s identity as Benson Sonia Bolouere. The source further narrated that the deceased was one of the most brilliant students in the Department of Crop and Soil Science at the prestigious Niger Delta University.

The source narrated that the deceased was from the Polaku community, Bayelsa state and that the incident occurred today morning (Wednesday 20th April 2022).

It was gathered that the incident occurred for about a few minutes interval, before security personnel and other sympathizers were found at the scene clearing the vehicles that were involved.

Another source also asserted that, since the prolonged strike issued by the Academic Staff Union of University ASUU, students of the varsity had been travelling to get their luggage from the school to return home awaiting school resumption, since there was no sign of the strike being called off soon.

However, the deceased course-mates, loved ones and family members had taken to the social media to mourn her.
