The Leadership of the Aghoro Community in the Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has divided over a recent publication dated 16th October 2023 issued by a section of the community leaders stopping the governor of the state, His Excellency Douye Diri from visiting the community with his campaign team.

A debunker issued by another set of leaders of the community on Wednesday afternoon said the authors of the publication, Chief Doctor Bousine and Chief Peter Okoko are not community leaders, adding that the referred publication should be disregarded.

According to a release signed by High Chief Fred Orumiene, High Chief Alex Toweizei acting Amayanabo of Aghoro l and ll, CDC Chairman, Aghoro 1 community, the publication which was allegedly sponsored by Chief Bousine and Chief Peter Okoko do not emanate from Aghoro I and II communities.

The statement reads, “Our attention has been drawn to a misleading online report of Monday 16th of October, 2023 with the above caption deceitfully authored and sponsored by the misguided and self-styled duo of “Mr. Doctor Bousine” and Mr. Peter Okoko. If there are any minor conflicts from CDC leadership in the Aghoro II community, the Bayelsa state government has amicably resolved the problems.”

The communities maintained that they had no issue with the state Governor, Douye Diri, “We wish to state clearly that we are two communities known and addressed as Aghoro I and Aghoro II Communities with our various independent governing structures known to both Government and International Oil Companies operating in our domain. Therefore the reference to “Aghoro Town” made in the said publication is nebulous and misleading and does not capture any reality.

“Given the above, we hereby state unequivocally that the online publication dated 16th October authored and sponsored by the duo of Mr. Doctor Bousine and Mr Peter Okoko does not emanate from Aghoro I and Aghoro II Communities.

“Though there were minor misunderstandings arising from the CDC Leadership tussle in the Aghoro II Community, but to the swift intervention of the Bayelsa State Government, almost all pending issues were amicably resolved.

“There was never a time stakeholders in Aghoro I and Aghoro II Communities were aggrieved against our amiable miracle governor His Excellency distinguished Senator Douye Diri or the prosperity government over any issue.”

It was stated that all the issues contained in the said publication of 16th October 2023 only exist in the figment of the imagination of Mr Doctor Bousine and Mr Peter Okoko and do not, therefore represent any reality.”

However, the communities said that they are happily waiting to receive the miracle governor and his entourage to the communities for the planned PDP Campaign billed to be held in the communities.

“We want to assure His Excellency, distinguished Senator Douye Diri, his great party the PDP and the state government that the Planned Campaign visit in Aghoro I and Aghoro II Communities will hold seamlessly without any hitch,” the statement added.
