Breaking: Gunmen ambush Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy, kill many in Enugu-Ukwu

Pandemonium as gunmen suspected to be hired assassins have ambushed Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy where about three policemen and other civilian aides were allegedly killed in Enugu-Ukwu on Sunday evening.

He was reportedly ambushed by heavily armed gunmen, suspected to be hired assassins who opened fire on his convoy.
Some of his aides were killed including some police officers.
The senator managed to escape as his car was riddled with bullets.

A witness to incident, stated the senator was injured in the attack in which was largely described as an assassination attempt on the Young People’s Party, YPP, senator.

A close source said: “Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy came under attack in Enugu- Ukwu this evening. He was ambushed by heavily armed men who opened fire on his convoy. Some of his aides were killed, including some police officers.

“The senator managed to escape as his car was riddled with bullets.

“I was driving up to that spot from the link road to the express when some people in a shop shouted at me and asked me to turn back and take another road, which I did”.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement said: “The Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command CP Echeng Echeng has led operatives to the scene where sporadical shootings took place in Enugwu ukwu.

“Though the details of the incident is still sketchy, operatives are on ground there as operations is going on and the situation is being monitored.”
