Justice Chima Centus Nweze, a member of the Nigerian Supreme Court, passed away on Sunday at the age of 64.

It was gathered that Justice Nweze was born on September 25, 1958, in Obollo, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2014 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Justice Nweze was known for his willingness to dissent from the majority opinion in high-profile cases. In one such case, he disagreed with the majority opinion that overturned the election of Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo State.

Justice Nweze argued that the majority opinion was based on faulty legal reasoning and that it would have a negative impact on Nigeria’s electoral jurisprudence.

He also dissented from the majority opinion that declared Ahmad Lawan the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Yobe North Senatorial District.

However, the Supreme Court is yet to confirm his death.
