It was believed by some Nigerians that Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was a saint and a messiah to rescue Nigerians from the hand of oppressors, but it seemed Nigerian Politicians are bird of the same feather and can do anything to get to power.

The 2023 Election Petition filed by Peter Obi to challenge the February 25 presidential election outcome had taken a new twist as Obi was alleged to have rigged out the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, in Anambra state.

This is according to a statement by a witness Ndubuisi Nwobu, during the election petition hearing.

Nwodu told the Election Tribunal that there were irregularities and manipulations at different collation centres in the state.

He maintained that the election results pronounced by the electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, doesn’t correspond with vote cast at all polling units.

Recall, INEC announced that Peter Obi scored 584,621 votes, while Atiku Abubakar scored 9,036 and Bola Tinubu scored 5,111 votes.

Nwodu asserted that after counting the total votes, the presiding officers refused to upload the election results on IREV, a legalize electronic platform for transmitting results.

He maintained that on the election day, he visited about 30 polling units out of 4,720 total polling units in Anambra state, but same incident occured with the presiding officers.

Nwodu explained that he had to intervene in many cases to prevent voters from beating INEC officials.

As the election petition tribunal is still ongoing, Nwobu is the eleventh witness to testify against Peter Obi before the five member panel headed by Haruna Tsammani.
